Lexus Australia receives nomination for a Webby Award

Website created by IE Digital named as one of the five best in the world for car sites & car culture

Melbourne, April 2018: A new website, created by IE Digital for luxury automotive brand Lexus Australia, has received a nomination for the ‘Car Sites & Car Culture’ category at the 2018 22nd Annual Webby Awards.

With 13,000 submissions received for the awards globally, the nomination for the Lexus Australia means the site is now in the running to be named as the top car site in the world.

Hailed as the “Internet’s highest honor” by The New York Times, The Webby Awards, presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS), is the leading international awards organisation honoring excellence on the Internet. Across the entire awards program, Lexus is one of four Australian sites having received a nomination.

Lexus’s submission celebrated their industry leading website created by Australian technology consultancy IE Digital. IE is Lexus’s digital partner, working closely on a roadmap of technology-led digital marketing initiatives to transform their customer experience. The site launch in 2017 was another progressive step forward in putting the brand ahead of its competitors.

The ‘Build and Price’ section of the site, incredibly complex from the back-end and clean on the front-end, enables the buyer to choose from more than 700 variables, engine variants, enhancement packs, and paint and trim, in real time.

Rhys Hayes, CEO of IE Digital, said of this nomination, “for an Australian technology company like IE Digital to be partnering with Lexus to transform their digital business, and having that work be recognised on a global stage, has been incredibly rewarding,” he said.

“As a growing best practice industry wide, our team set up a dedicated space in IE’s Sydney for Lexus and IE to co-locate together. This, coupled with our advanced design thinking and agile practices, was a core factor influencing the success of the product.”
